বাংলাA mobile court in Bogura has fined an ice cream factory Tk 100,000 for allegedly producing ice cream in an unhygienic environment using prohibited chemicals and harmful colours. A large quantity of adulterated ice cream stored in the factory’s freezer was also seized and destroyed publicly.
A joint operation by the district administration and Bangladesh Food Safety Authority was conducted in Sherpur upazila on Wednesday, August 19. Officials found evidence of irregularities related to the production of adulterated ice cream.
According to officials, the factory had been producing ice cream without registration for a long period. Inspectors found the alleged use of sodium cyclamate and harmful textile dyes, along with extremely dirty and unhygienic conditions.
As the owner admitted the offences, mobile court judge and Executive Magistrate Mehrab Hossain fined Mohammad Shihab Uddin Tk 100,000 under food safety laws. The seized adulterated ice cream was subsequently destroyed.
Officials from the Bogura District Food Safety Office and Sherpur food safety inspection team were present during the operation. A team from Bogura District Police provided security assistance.
Bogura District Food Safety Officer Mohammad Russell said the establishment had been instructed to comply with all government laws and regulations to ensure food safety. Authorities said such operations will continue in the public interest to prevent the production of adulterated ice cream and other unsafe foods.
