বাংলাTwo leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were allegedly beaten in Lakshmipur. The incident occurred at a fuel shop in the Dalal Bazar area. Emdadul Huq Imon and Al-Amin Hossain Rudra are currently undergoing treatment. They were attacked while protesting the illegal overpricing of petrol.
The victims stated that shopkeeper Tofael was selling petrol at 130–140 BDT. The government-fixed price for petrol is currently 116 BDT per liter. When Imon questioned the high price, a heated argument broke out. Tofael’s son, Jihad, and his followers then brutally attacked Imon.
Al-Amin Hossain Rudra rushed to the spot to rescue Imon during the assault. However, the attackers also beat Rudra and damaged their two motorcycles. Local JCD leader Mizanur Rahman demanded immediate justice for this violent incident. They accused the shopkeepers of taking advantage of the fuel crisis.
Shopkeeper Tofael’s son, Jihad, denied the allegations of beating the JCD leaders. He claimed they were selling fuel according to the standard rules. Jihad suggested that excited crowds might have chased Imon for creating chaos. The shop owner maintains that no physical assault took place by them.
Dalal Bazar UP Chairman Nazrul Islam confirmed that a boy took shelter nearby. Village police rescued him after he was chased by several youths. Police official Jhalak Mohanta said no written complaint has been filed yet. They will take legal action after receiving a formal complaint.
