    Mohammed Akthar Hossain worked as a teacher in Barura. His computer training certificate was found to be fake. The DIA recommended recovering 30.80 lakh BDT from him. Teacher Nazim Uddin from Bishwanath also used a fake certificate. He must pay back 22 lakh BDT to the government.

    The DIA identified 739 fake certificate holders across the country. They inspected 7,382 institutions from 2021 to February 2026. These fake certificate holders owe the government 534 crore BDT. About 2,186 acres of school land have been illegally occupied. This information came from the latest DIA reports.

    The DIA submitted 8,018 reports to the Education Ministry. Most reports were sent between 2021 and 2025. In fiscal year 2021-22, 86 fake certificates were found. The government claim was over 43.53 crore BDT then. The situation worsened in the following year, 2022-23.

    The number of fake certificates rose to 127 then. The recoverable amount reached 96.49 crore BDT that year. In 2023-24, DIA inspected 2,358 institutions for fraud. They identified 105 fake certificates during those inspections. The government claim reached 83.89 crore BDT that year.

    Fiscal year 2024-25 saw a record number of reports. A total of 274 fake certificates were identified then. Financial irregularities reached a peak of 195.68 crore BDT. In the current year, 147 more fake certificates were found. The total debt now stands at 534 crore BDT.

    2,186 Acres of Land Lost in Five Years

    The DIA report highlighted massive land grabbing in schools. Over 199 acres were occupied between July and February. Influential people occupied 657 acres in 2024-25 fiscal year. About 232 acres were lost in the 2023-24 period. Another 465 acres were occupied in the 2022-23 year.

    Schools with Displaced Lands

    Sher-e-Bangla School in Madhubagh lost 1.46 acres of land. Tall buildings now surround three sides of the school. Nayatola Model Kamil Madrasa lost about 21 percent land. Mannan High School in Jatrabari lost over 50 percent land. Funds were spent to buy land that now vanished.

    KK T Haji NC Institute in Gopalganj lost land too. Its land decreased from 4.39 to 3.40 acres. Fazlul Haq Mahila College in Gendaria faced similar issues. Its land area shrank from 2.32 to 1.05 acres. More than one acre of college land is missing.

    Statement from the DIA

    DIA Director Professor MM Sahidul Islam spoke to media. He mentioned manpower shortages and other technical challenges. Audit reports emphasize fake certificates and land grabbing issues. DIA recommended the ministry to take immediate legal actions. The reports highlight land recovery and financial irregularities clearly.
