  • A 76-year-old freedom fighter was brutally beaten in Munshiganj. The attack occurred on Tuesday near the Baluakandi bus stand. Banned Chhatra League leader Tuhin Pradhan is the main accused. He and 10 others attacked the victim with weapons.

    The victim was identified as Md. Wahiduzzaman Naimul. The attack happened due to a long-standing land dispute. Tuhin Pradhan led a group of 12 armed terrorists. They left the victim bleeding on the road. Locals rescued him and took him to the hospital.

    Naimul said Tuhin had threatened him the night before. Tuhin is a known criminal in the local area. He was recently released from jail on bail. After his release, he started criminal activities again. He was a vice-president of a BCL branch.

    Doctor Sharmin Sultana said the victim’s condition is critical. One of his hands and legs are broken. There is also a sharp weapon wound on his head. He was shifted to Dhaka for better treatment. Police visited the scene after the incident.

    Officer-in-Charge Hasan Ali confirmed the news to the media. No written complaint has been filed yet by the family. Police will take legal action after receiving the complaint. The victim is the son of late Abdur Razzak.
