The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has sharpened its attack against Amit Shah. They recommended a list of non-vegetarian delicacies for his upcoming visit. This follows Mamata Banerjee’s claim that BJP might restrict Bengali food habits. The Union Home Minister plans a 15-day stay in West Bengal.
TMC posted a welcoming message on social media platform X. They listed famous dishes like Ilish Bhapa and Chingri Malai Curry. The party suggested Amit Shah try Muri Ghonto and Kosha Mangsho. They welcomed him as a “tourist” to the poll-bound state.
Mamata Banerjee criticized a recent order regarding meat sales in Bihar. She alleged that BJP would ban open meat markets in Bengal. The CM expressed concern for the livelihoods of street sellers. She believes such politics is anti-people and highly condemnable.
Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya rejected these allegations immediately. He clarified that people in Bengal can eat whatever they want. He claimed the party only opposes the open sale of beef. Bhattacharya accused TMC of twisting the actual comments for politics.
The West Bengal assembly elections will be held in two phases. Voting starts on April 23 and ends on April 29. Results for all 294 seats are scheduled for May 4. Both parties are heavily campaigning to win the cultural narrative.
