Renowned cardiologist Dr. Zubaida Rahman has officially launched the Shishu Swarga model project aimed at healthcare and rehabilitation support for children with special needs.
Speaking at the inauguration event in Dhaka’s Korail area, State Minister for Health Dr. M A Muhith said the Shishu Swarga initiative will initially begin in 10 upazilas.
Authorities plan to expand the Shishu Swarga program to 50 upazilas within the next three years, with a long-term goal of nationwide implementation.
Dr. Zubaida Rahman emphasized that timely treatment and rehabilitation can help specially-abled children develop their hidden talents. She stated that the Shishu Swarga project would support both children and mothers toward a brighter future.
The event also highlighted plans for disability-friendly public services, including free transportation facilities for persons with disabilities.
Experts believe the Shishu Swarga initiative could become a milestone project for underprivileged and specially-abled children in Bangladesh.
