বাংলাIn a brutal incident in Damudya, Shariatpur, six members of the BNP were critically injured after being hacked by activists of the banned Chhatra League. The attack took place on Friday morning (March 27) in the Dhankathi Union. According to local sources, the victims were lured to a meeting under the pretext of resolving a long-standing political dispute, only to be ambushed by the attackers led by local Chhatra League leader Shaon.
Ambush Under the Pretext of Reconciliation
The victims, identified as Malek Khan, Nazrul Sardar, Ramjan Sardar, Samsul Sardar, Alamgir Sardar, and Mohsin Sardar, had gone to Shaon’s house for a peaceful settlement. However, Shaon and his associates, who had recently returned to the area, attacked them with sharp weapons. The brutality was reportedly broadcasted on social media via a live stream, which alerted the locals. Following a call to 999, police arrived at the scene to rescue the victims, who have since been sent to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment.
Police Detention and Army Deployment
In the aftermath of the attack, an angry mob set fire to Shaon’s house and vandalized another suspect’s residence. Damudya Police Station OC Md. Rabiul Haque confirmed the detention of two individuals, Din Islam and Rifat, in connection with the violence. To maintain order, additional police forces and a team from the Bangladesh Army have been deployed in the area. Legal proceedings are currently underway as the investigation continues.
