Engineers removed all nine derailed coaches from the Nilsagar Express and placed them beside the railway line. They continued repair work without interruption. The damaged track is now almost ready for safe train movement.
Officials confirmed that train services will resume soon on this route. The Simanta Express will likely be the first train to run after the Nilsagar Express derailment rail communication restored successfully.
Passenger suffering after Nilsagar Express derailment
The derailment near Santahar in Bogura stopped rail communication between Dhaka and northern Bangladesh. Passengers faced serious difficulties, especially those traveling before Eid.
Many passengers crossed the accident area on foot with luggage. Women and children suffered the most. Railway authorities will continue full repair work even after services resume. A four-member investigation committee has started examining the cause of the Nilsagar Express derailment.
