  • BNP reserved women seats applicants, and the competition for reserved women seats in Bangladesh’s parliament has intensified as more than 500 applicants from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have submitted their candidacies for just 35 seats. The overwhelming response highlights growing interest among women leaders to secure representation in the upcoming parliamentary structure.

Massive Interest from BNP Leaders Nationwide

According to party sources, applications have poured in from almost every district across the country. Although no official application form was specified, candidates submitted their profiles on plain paper, attaching detailed biographies along with their contributions to BNP’s political activities.

Many applicants included photographs of their participation in rallies, meetings, and party programs to strengthen their candidacy. Applicants submitted all applications directly to Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. Party officials confirmed that they accepted submissions until March 16. Within just a few days, the party received more than 500 applications, marking a record number of submissions.

Nomination Process and Political Calculations Underway

The applications will be forwarded to the party’s high command, which will make the final decision. Meanwhile, candidates are actively lobbying central leaders and using social media campaigns to gain attention. Some have even created multiple pages and used paid promotions to highlight their political activities and achievements.

The constitution allocates 50 reserved seats for women in the national parliament, distributing them proportionally based on general election results. BNP secured 209 seats, entitling it to 35 reserved seats. Party insiders suggest that final nominations may take time, possibly until after Eid, as the leadership carefully evaluates candidates amid strong competition.
