Kushtia Emerges as Hotspot with 109 Children Under Treatment
The Measles Outbreak Khulna report highlights a deteriorating health situation for children in the region. As of Tuesday (April 7) afternoon, the total number of children admitted with measles-like symptoms across ten districts has climbed to 359. Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman, the Acting Director of the Khulna Divisional Health Directorate, confirmed these figures. According to official data, Kushtia is the worst-affected district, currently treating 109 children, followed closely by Jashore with 73 and Khulna district with 66 admissions.
In the last 24 hours, the Measles Outbreak Khulna saw fresh admissions in almost every district. Kushtia reported 21 new cases, Jashore 16, and Bagerhat 14. Other districts including Satkhira, Jhenaidah, Magura, and Narail also reported new hospitalizations. Health officials are monitoring the situation closely as the number of symptomatic cases continues to rise, stressing the importance of vaccination and isolation to prevent further spread among the younger population.
District-wise Breakdown of Hospitalized Children
The Measles Outbreak Khulna has spread across the entire division with varying intensity. Currently, the distribution of patients includes 35 children in Magura, 21 in Narail, 19 in Bagerhat, 15 in Satkhira, and smaller numbers in Meherpur, Chuadanga, and Jhenaidah.
