Two people were injured after being shot by criminals inside a mosque during Fajr prayer in Khulna, causing panic in the area.
The incident took place around 5:30 AM on Sunday (June 14) at West Kashipur Power Station Jame Mosque in Doulatpur area of Khulna city.
Witnesses said several armed attackers entered the mosque during prayer and suddenly opened fire, targeting specific individuals.
The injured have been identified as Lokman Hakim (45), secretary of the mosque committee, and local resident Alam Mondol (55).
Alam Mondol was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors confirmed that he is now out of danger.
Lokman Hakim sustained critical injuries and was later transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Locals suspect the attack may have been pre-planned, although the exact motive is still unknown.
Police Assistant Commissioner Md. Abdur Razzak confirmed that law enforcement visited the scene immediately after the incident.
An investigation has been launched to identify and arrest the attackers involved in the shooting.
The incident has created fear among local residents, who are demanding stronger security measures.
