Responding to critics, Messi said Argentina’s success is the result of four years of consistent performances rather than any special treatment. According to him, FIFA Favouritism has nothing to do with the team’s achievements.
Argentina came from behind to beat England 2-1, with Messi providing two crucial assists for Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez. After the match, he insisted that the players had earned their place in the final through hard work, not FIFA Favouritism.
Messi added that reaching two consecutive World Cup finals is a rare achievement and reflects the team’s quality and determination. He said critics would have spoken differently if Argentina had lost, but the players answered on the pitch.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner also paid tribute to Diego Maradona, saying the victory was a gift to the late legend. Messi stressed that FIFA Favouritism is merely a narrative, while Argentina’s performances have been the real reason behind their success.
