A tragic accident has occurred at the Daulatdia ferry terminal in Goalanda Upazila, Rajbari. A passenger bus named ‘Souhardya Paribahan’ lost control and plunged into the Padma River while attempting to board a ferry. Many passengers are feared missing in the incident.
Event Details
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the bus was trying to board a ferry at terminal number 5 this afternoon. While crossing the pontoon, the driver suddenly lost control, and the vehicle quickly submerged into the deep water of the Padma River. Several passengers were inside the bus at the time of the accident.
Rescue Operations and Current Status
Immediately after the crash, a few passengers managed to break through the windows and swim ashore. However, it is feared that the majority of the passengers went down with the bus. The exact number of people on board has not yet been confirmed.
The strong current of the Padma River has made the rescue operation extremely challenging. Local Fire Service units and River Police have been notified and are on their way to the scene. The atmosphere at the ferry terminal is heavy with the cries of relatives searching for their loved ones.
