  • Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive defeat in the U20 Junior Asia Cup Hockey, losing 4-2 to Malaysia in a Pool B clash. The Bangladesh hockey team fought back after falling behind but could not prevent another defeat.

The match at the Moki Training Ground in China was goalless in the opening quarter. Malaysia increased the pressure in the second quarter and scored twice in the 21st and 23rd minutes to take a 2-0 lead.

The Bangladesh hockey team responded quickly. Forward Abdullah scored from a reverse hit in the 24th minute to reduce the deficit to 2-1. In the third quarter, defender Mehedi Hasan Ovi scored a field goal in the 33rd minute to level the match at 2-2.

Malaysia regained control in the final quarter. Forward Suzainee Fahmi scored field goals in the 48th and 51st minutes to secure a 4-2 victory. The result left the Bangladesh hockey team facing a difficult route to the next round.

Bangladesh had also lost their opening match 3-2 to hosts China. With two defeats from two matches, the Bangladesh hockey team now needs a strong turnaround in the remaining games to keep their hopes alive.
