বাংলাA fuel tanker exploded following a road accident in western Iran, killing 11 people and injuring seven others. The Iran tanker explosion also affected several vehicles near the crash site.
The accident occurred on a highway connecting Sanandaj County in Kurdistan Province with Hamadan County. Babak Roshanai, head of emergency medical services at Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, said several nearby vehicles were also affected by the fire.
According to Xinhua, rescuers took the injured to a hospital in Sanandaj, while rescue operations continued at the scene. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the Iran tanker explosion.
The incident comes amid heightened military tensions between the United States and Iran in the Persian Gulf region. US Central Command said its forces targeted three Iranian crude oil tankers after what it described as a ballistic missile attack by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on two US warships.
Centcom said the tanker strikes took place on September 5 in response to the alleged missile attack. The Iran tanker explosion and the latest maritime tensions have drawn renewed attention to security in the region.
Earlier in July, another oil tanker exploded after a reported incident involving a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway remains one of the world’s key strategic routes for transporting oil and liquefied natural gas, making incidents such as the Iran tanker explosion significant for international energy security.
