Teachers at a school in Rangpur have been accused of taking money from SSC candidates in exchange for signing practical notebooks. The practical signature fee issue has sparked concern among students.
According to students, teachers demanded 500 taka per student before signing practical copies for subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Agriculture. Without the practical signature fee, signatures were allegedly being withheld.
Several students claimed they had already paid all official exam fees during form fill-up, yet additional payments are now being demanded. Many fear losing marks if they protest against the practical signature fee.
The principal of the institution admitted that the money was being collected for photocopying and other related expenses. He also claimed the practical signature fee practice exists in many institutions.
However, the local education officer stated that there is no legal basis for collecting such fees and assured action after investigation.
