RU Hall Residency Suspended action has been taken by the Rajshahi University administration against three students, including a Hall Union leader. The incident occurred following an unauthorized late-night raid at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall under the pretext of searching for a female intruder, which turned out to be a false accusation.
Illegal Raid and RU Hall Residency Suspended for Hall Leaders
According to hall sources, the raid was led by AGS Israfil Hossain, supported by Shibir activists, on the morning of April 11. Victims reported that the group forced entry into room 121 and harassed students while recording videos. After finding no evidence of any wrongdoing, the hall administration decided that RU Hall Residency Suspended status would be applied to Israfil, Sakib Jubayer, and Forkan Hafiz for creating a fearful environment and breaching university discipline.
The University Proctor, Mahbubur Rahman, emphasized that no student or organization has the authority to conduct raids without the Provost’s permission. Following the RU Hall Residency Suspended order, a show-cause notice was also issued to Hall VP Mozammel Haq. An investigation committee has been formed to delve deeper into the matter. The administration has vowed to prevent any form of ‘mob justice’ or harassment on campus to maintain a stable academic atmosphere.
