The Ministry of Education is considering a new hybrid system that combines online and offline classes to ensure educational continuity and energy efficiency. According to ministry sources, a preliminary decision was discussed in a meeting on Tuesday (March 31, 2026), suggesting classes be held based on even and odd dates.
The Proposed Even-Odd Schedule for Hybrid class model Bangladesh
Under the proposed plan, online classes would be conducted on even dates, while offline (physical) classes would take place on odd dates. However, stakeholders have initially agreed that practical classes must remain strictly offline to maintain academic standards. This hybrid model aims to increase student engagement and promote technology-based education.
Energy Saving Measures and Government Plans
The government has outlined eight potential plans to save electricity amidst the global crisis, including increasing weekly holidays to three days and implementing work-from-home options for government officials. For schools, the plan includes at least three days of online classes per week, though specific plans for colleges and universities are yet to be finalized.
A final decision regarding these measures is expected to be reached during the upcoming Cabinet meeting on Thursday. Official notifications will be issued following the cabinet’s approval.
