বাংলা🌊 We Are Surviving by Fighting Nature: Water Resources Minister
✍️ Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said that people living in coastal areas survive by constantly fighting against nature.
## Visit to Meghna River Protection Embankment Project
He made the remarks on Saturday (March 14) while visiting the Meghna riverbank protection embankment project in Asolpara village of Alexander Union in Ramgati upazila of Lakshmipur.
The minister said the coastal region often faces severe flooding and tidal surges during the monsoon season. From Majuchowdhurirhat to Komolnagar Ramgati Boyarchar, around 62 kilometers of riverbank areas remain vulnerable due to the absence of proper embankments in many places.
He noted that many residents have already lost land and property due to river erosion and flooding and are struggling to survive.
National Parliament Whip ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan MP and Lakshmipur-1 (Ramganj) MP Shahadat Hossain Selim were present during the inspection.
Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie also said that under the leadership of Tarique Rahman the current government is working to fulfill long-standing demands of the people and implement important public projects.
He added that the water resources ministry will closely monitor the quality and progress of the embankment construction along the 62-kilometer stretch of the river.
The minister further alleged that previous governments were involved in large-scale corruption and money laundering and said investigations into those irregularities are ongoing.
According to him, legal departmental action will be taken against those responsible for mismanagement of major development projects, and the present government will ensure the works are completed transparently and without corruption.
He also emphasized the need to complete ongoing projects quickly while maintaining strict monitoring of their implementation.
