Rangpur District Detective Branch (DB) Police arrested four members of a fraud ring involved in a police job scam during the Cadet ASI recruitment examination.
According to police, the suspects promised a government job in exchange for Tk 1.7 million and collected Tk 250,000 in advance. The police job scam also involved sending fake admit cards via WhatsApp.
Investigators said the group used forged documents and proxy candidates to deceive job seekers. Evidence recovered from seized mobile phones linked the suspects to the police job scam.
Police also found that the accused allegedly impersonated senior officials to gain the trust of victims. The police job scam network is believed to have been operating for a long time.
A case has been filed, and authorities said operations are continuing to arrest other suspects involved in the police job scam.
