Parliament Briefing: Massive Fuel Shipments to Arrive by April 30
In a crucial Fuel Stock Update presented to the National Parliament today, Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku assured the nation that there is no immediate threat of a fuel shortage. Responding to a query from government MP Shawkatul Islam regarding matters of urgent public importance, the Minister detailed the current reserves and the upcoming import schedule. He emphasized that the government is actively exploring all possible sources to maintain a steady supply of energy products in the face of regional geopolitical instability.
According to the Fuel Stock Update provided by the Minister, the current diesel reserve stands at 164,644 metric tons, with an additional 138,000 metric tons expected to arrive by April 30. For octane, the current stock is 10,500 metric tons, while 71,543 metric tons are scheduled for delivery within this month. Petrol reserves are currently at 16,000 metric tons, with another 36,000 metric tons set to be added to the inventory by the end of April. These figures aim to calm public anxiety over potential energy rationing.
Utilizing Domestic Resources to Boost Supply
The Fuel Stock Update also highlighted the government’s strategic use of domestic condensate from local gas fields to produce petrol, octane, and diesel. This internal production is a key component of the strategy to ensure smooth distribution across the country.
