Amid rising economic pressure, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Golam Parwar has expressed strong concern over the fuel price hike in Bangladesh.
In a statement released on Sunday, he said the recent increase in diesel, kerosene, octane, and petrol prices would negatively impact the overall economy. According to him, the fuel price hike will worsen the living conditions of ordinary people.
He warned that higher transport costs would lead to increased prices of essential commodities. The fuel price hike is expected to accelerate inflation, severely affecting middle and lower-income groups.
Parwar also highlighted the industrial sector, stating that production costs would rise, ultimately increasing product prices. The fuel price hike will also impact agriculture through higher irrigation and transport expenses.
He urged the government to reconsider the decision, noting that the fuel price hike would act as an additional burden on already struggling citizens.
