The Bangladesh government has announced compulsory school sports from Class Four under the upcoming national curriculum.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque said football, cricket, swimming, martial arts, and other sports will be included as part of the compulsory school sports program.
Students will not only take written exams but will also undergo practical assessments on the field under the compulsory school sports initiative.
The minister also urged parents to encourage outdoor activities and reduce children’s dependence on mobile phones and digital devices. He said playgrounds will gradually be established in every union to support compulsory school sports.
Officials believe the compulsory school sports policy will help develop healthier, more active, and disciplined future generations.
