  • A low-pressure system has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and northern Odisha. It may move west-northwestward.

Due to the system, gusty winds may affect coastal areas of Bangladesh. A number 3 warning signal at seaports has been issued for the country’s four seaports.

Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to display the local number 3 warning signal, according to a weather warning issued Saturday morning.

Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have also been advised to remain close to the coast and operate cautiously until further instructions. The number 3 warning signal at seaports remains in effect amid the developing weather system.

Authorities are monitoring the situation as the low-pressure system moves over the Bay of Bengal. Coastal residents and vessels have been advised to remain alert.
