বাংলা🌍 Russia and China Stand by Iran Amid Rising Middle East Tensions
✍️ Russia and China have publicly supported Iran amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East that have continued for nearly two weeks. The United States and its allies called for imposing stricter sanctions on Iran at the United Nations Security Council, but Moscow and Beijing opposed the move and effectively shielded Tehran.
## Dispute at the UN Security Council
During a Security Council meeting held in New York on Friday, the United States attempted to justify further action against Iran amid the escalating conflict in the region. However, Russia and China strongly objected to the proposal, leading to heated exchanges and serious accusations between the countries during the meeting.
As the rotating president of the Security Council for the current month, Washington proposed activating the UN’s “1737 Committee”, which oversees sanctions related to Iran.
Although Russia and China tried to block the discussion, they failed to prevent the vote. The proposal to continue the discussion was passed with 11 votes in favor, while two countries abstained.
US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz accused Moscow and Beijing of obstructing the committee’s work, claiming they were attempting to protect their defense partner Iran at the expense of global security.
The situation highlights growing geopolitical divisions in the Security Council as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.
