🏏 Mustafizur Rahman Becomes First Bangladeshi to Get Team in The Hundred
✍️ Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been picked by a team in The Hundred, becoming the first Bangladeshi cricketer to achieve the milestone in the tournament’s history.
In the previous five editions of The Hundred, no Bangladeshi player had been selected. This year, 23 Bangladeshi cricketers registered for the draft, and only two players, including Mustafizur Rahman, made it to the final shortlist.
## Birmingham Phoenix Sign Mustafizur
Mustafizur entered the draft with a base price of £75,000. Birmingham Phoenix eventually signed the left-arm pacer for £100,000.
Another Bangladeshi player, Rishad Hossain, was also shortlisted but did not attract any bids during the draft. Like Mustafizur, he also registered with a base price of £75,000.
At Birmingham Phoenix, Mustafizur will share the dressing room with players such as Jacob Bethell, Donovan Ferreira, Usman Tariq and Rehan Ahmed.
Interestingly, Rishad Hossain previously played alongside Rehan Ahmed in the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes.
Among the Bangladeshi players who had registered for the tournament but failed to make the final shortlist were Shakib Al Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Liton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Towhid Hridoy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shoriful Islam, Soumya Sarkar and several others.
Shakib Al Hasan entered the draft in the highest base price category of £100,000. Mustafizur and Rishad were placed in the second tier with a base price of £75,000, while the remaining players registered with a base price of £31,000.
