  • Bangladesh’s only DAP fertilizer plant in Anwara, Chattogram, has shut down due to a severe ammonia shortage. The DAP fertilizer shutdown has raised concerns in the agriculture and industrial sectors.

The production was halted on Saturday evening after the remaining ammonia stock was depleted, forcing authorities into a DAP fertilizer shutdown.

Sources say gas shortages had already stopped ammonia supply from nearby plants, leading to the current DAP fertilizer shutdown.

Operated under the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation, the plant has been producing since 2006 with a daily capacity of 800 tons. This DAP fertilizer shutdown may affect supply chains.

Officials stated that the DAP fertilizer shutdown will continue until the situation improves, potentially impacting fertilizer availability nationwide.
