The Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the Hajj flight inauguration program tonight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The first flight is scheduled to depart at 12:20 AM on April 18, carrying 419 pilgrims to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
A total of 14 flights will operate on the opening day, including services by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Saudia, and Flynas. Authorities confirmed that preparations for the Hajj flight inauguration are complete.
This year, 78,500 pilgrims from Bangladesh are expected to perform Hajj, with 4,565 traveling under government arrangements and the rest through private agencies.
According to agreements, 50% of pilgrims will be transported by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while Saudia and Flynas will carry the remaining passengers.
Pre-Hajj flights will continue until May 21, with a total of 207 flights scheduled. The Hajj flight inauguration marks the official start of this year’s pilgrimage operations.
The Hajj is expected to take place on May 26, subject to moon sighting, while return flights will begin on May 30 and continue until July 1.
