বাংলাNASA’s Artemis II astronauts have successfully completed their launch. They are now focusing on a very busy first day in space. The crew will spend 24 hours orbiting the Earth. This will test the Orion capsule before heading to the moon.
This mission marks the first piloted moonshot in 53 years. The crew consists of four experienced astronauts. They are Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. They will travel farther from Earth than any previous humans.
The Artemis II crew will not land on the moon. Instead, they will loop around its far side. This test flight ensures the Orion capsule is safe for humans. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman called this a major opening act. It paves the way for a future moon base.
Astronauts are currently checking life support and navigation systems. Commander Wiseman described the first 24 hours as very intense. They must ensure the ship can scrub carbon dioxide effectively. They are also testing basic human functions in microgravity.
Pilot Victor Glover took manual control of the Orion capsule. He confirmed that the vehicle flies exactly as designed. The crew reported a minor issue with the toilet system. Engineers are already working on a repair plan for them.
The mission includes a critical “trans-lunar injection” burn on Thursday. This engine firing will finally push Orion toward the moon. The spacecraft is scheduled to splash down on April 10. The landing will occur in the Pacific Ocean near California.
