All victims have been admitted to Jamalpur Sadar Hospital for medical examination and necessary treatment.
Specific Case: Thalassemia Patient Targeted in Madarganj
Local sources report a particularly heinous incident in Madarganj Upazila involving a child suffering from Thalassemia. The accused, Masudur Rahman (45), a member of the Karaichara Union Awami League, allegedly entered the victim’s house on Saturday afternoon while her relatives were away. After the assault, he reportedly threatened to kill the child if she spoke out. However, the child informed her mother, leading to a written complaint at Madarganj Police Station on Saturday night. The incident of women and child abuse in Jamalpur has left the community in a state of high alert.
Police Action and Other Incidents
Madarganj Police Station OC Khandaker Shaker Ahmed confirmed that the child has been sent to the hospital for a forensic medical test, and a police operation is underway to arrest the accused, who remains at large. Apart from this, five other cases of women and child abuse in Jamalpur were reported within the same 24-hour window. These include a 4-year-old in Islampur, a 29-year-old woman in Islampur Municipality, a 17-year-old girl in Melandah, a 21-year-old in Jamalpur Municipality, and a 40-year-old woman in the Sadar Upazila.

The sudden surge in such crimes has sparked intense anger and concern among the general public. Locals have demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and exemplary punishment. Dr. Tarikul Islam, Resident Officer at Jamalpur Sadar Hospital, stated that all victims are receiving essential medical care, and evidence is being collected for legal proceedings to ensure justice for these cases of women and child abuse in Jamalpur.
